Marionette M Wilson
A woman of honesty, virtue, consideration and most important, intelligence had a dream of becoming a pre-school teacher and even one day may be if possible, to own her own school. Unfortunately it took some time for any of these dreams to come true. Her lifetime journey took her through different jobs which gave her experiences of a lifetime.
She worked in Harbour Island as a waitress in her early teens then moved to Nassau as a teenager to obtain further education. During this time she ventured into a new aspect of life which was also her lifetime goal as well as dream, teaching. She started out in 1982 at the age of 19 teaching pre-school toddlers and looking after infants at “Paula’s Nursery School”. After years of working there, in 1988 she then moved on to “Annie’s Kindergarten” Preschool for a few years before spending the most of her teaching career at “See-Saw Academy” at the K-2 level from 1994 to 2009.
This virtuous woman became a very popular Pre-School teacher in high demand by parents and guardians of students all over Nassau. She became a certified A-Beka curriculum teacher, attending seminars in Pensacola Florida, and that along with her years of experience and love for children combined, sets her standards of early childhood education to a level that all parents and students like.
After excelling in other people work place Mrs. Wilson along with her family, decided that they would come together and let her witness her life time dream become a reality. A school called THE BIG APPLE ACADEMY, a state of the art school that will provide professional care and learning to pre-school students all around the island was about to begin. The name came from inspired trips to New York City ,but the actual focus was on the word apple which is the fruit that became the icon for learning worldwide, and would also play a part in the Schools motto, which is: “Were learning begins, and young minds bloom”.
